From the professor in Alabama to the software developer in Texas, we see that ignoring these issues can have very dire consequences.</li>
<li>Note: There is a file embedded within this post, please visit this post to download the file. &#8211; People who are unemployed have an increased risk of substance abuse and addiction. As a result, a critical component of addiction treatment is to improve the life skills that help people maintain employment and attain economic self‐sufficiency.</li>
<li>Note: There is a file embedded within this post, please visit this post to download the file. &#8211; Home to over 120,000 active duty personnel stationed in the seven military bases throughout our state or deployed overseas, North Carolina houses the fourth largest number of military personnel in the United States and expects another 25,000 active duty members by 2011. Military service is affecting our state’s veterans and their families, prior to, during and post deployment, with deaths, disabilities, injuries, mental health and substance abuse issues.</li>
