William “Bill” Miller to speak in Pinehurst on February 15th, 2010

Dr. Miller’s life work has been researching and developing more effective treatment for abuse and addiction.   With his colleague, Stephen Rollnick, he coauthored “Motivational Interviewing:  Preparing People to Change Addictive Behavior” in 1991.   This work has been fundamental in changing how systems and counselor approach clients seeking treatment for substance abuse.  In Pinehurst, Dr. Miller will be giving the keynote address  entitled – “Rafting the Waters of Change:  Reflections on Direction, Guidance and Acceptance”.  He will also be conducting a breakout session on “New Developments in Practice, Research, Theory and Learning of Motivational Interviewing”.    See attached brochure about how to register for this unique opportunity to hear Dr. Miller in our state.
