Dr. Miller’s life work has been researching and developing more effective treatment for abuse and addiction. With his colleague, Stephen Rollnick, he coauthored “Motivational Interviewing: Preparing People to Change Addictive Behavior” in 1991. This work has been fundamental in changing how systems and counselor approach clients seeking treatment for substance abuse. In Pinehurst, Dr. Miller will be giving the keynote address entitled – “Rafting the Waters of Change: Reflections on Direction, Guidance and Acceptance”. He will also be conducting a breakout session on “New Developments in Practice, Research, Theory and Learning of Motivational Interviewing”.
